Peggy Sue has already been tagged with indie nomenclature from post-folk to anti-soul, but elementally the trio is a shambolic concoction of acoustic instruments and wry lyricism sung atop chugging gypsy rhythms.
The band will release its first full length record, Fossils and Other Phantoms, on Yep Roc June 1 and will begin a US tour a week later—after having played shows across the UK with friends Mumford & Sons. They’ll play Mississippi Studios in Portland June 20 with Shoeshine Blue:
